Raef Awad
Dr Raef Awad is an experienced radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Hobart. He graduated from the University of Alexandria in 1991 before training at Alexandria University Hospital in Egypt, completing his Masters in radiation oncology. In 2002, Dr Awad pursued a Clinical Research Fellowship in radiation oncology at the University of Alabama in the United States, and published many papers in a series of reputable radiation oncology journals, including the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics. In 2005 Dr Awad was appointed as Associate Professor of Clinical Oncology at the University of Alexandria. By 2007 he was practicing as a radiation oncologist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Saudi Arabia. He moved to Australia in 2011 and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists in August 2012. Dr Awad practiced as radiation oncologist in the Mater Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney before moving to Hobart in February 2013 as Staff Specialist Radiation Oncologist and Director of Training at the Royal Hobart Hospital. In 2016 he was appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine at the University of Tasmania. His clinical experience covers a broad range of solid tumour malignancies with special interest in gynecological cancer.
