Kailash Narayan
Kailash Narayan a Gynaecological Radiation Oncologist and Professor at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, University of Melbourne, Australia. He had training in medicine, Biophysics, Experimental pathology and Radiation Oncology. His laboratory research interests have been microvasculature of normal and neoplastic tissues. His clinical research interests have been in the application of histology, MRI and PET in prognosticating and management of gynaecological cancers. His longitudinal observational studies since 1996 have been the source for assessing various radiological and histological prognostic factors and treatment outcomes, showing the highest quality of care and a marked reduction in radiotherapy complications. His observations became the basis of selection of patients for clinical studies. Based on his experimental observations of vascular response to radiation and later clinical observations of cancer treatment failure patterns he hypothesized that tumour cell dissemination could result from the tumour disruption caused by the treatment itself.
