As international space agencies examine the logistics of long duration spaceflight, Australia is uniquely placed to address several key challenges within the fields of space life science and space medicine. Australian contributions to the medical support of astronaut health in this setting has the potential to improve the terrestrial healthcare available to rural and remote populations, as both groups face a range of similar challenges.
